Ever graceful I managed to fall here in the house yesterday afternoon. I now have a splint on my right hand .... yes , I am right handed. It happened so quickly. Before making things even more interesting, I was out and overheard two individuals labeling Obama a communist and a Marxist out loud and in public. This election will be history soon. We will all continue into the future and we have many, many serious issues we must address together. There is much bitterness and anger in these attacks; people are slinging labels and they do not really know what they mean. I have a good sense that they are code words for the issue of race something even the most unenlightened will not touch. So how easy will it be when the outcome is known and we go forward? Will we all hug and work out the best future for this country ? I just don't think so...people will continue to hate other people who don't think as they do... I would stay home until after the election to avoid people like I encountered but as I found out yesterday that is not safe either.

This weekend at an art show in Asheville, NC an older woman saying: "I always feel conspicuous wearing costume jewelry.." as opposed to what the crown jewels of the Hapsburgs? or wearing cheap bling calls attention to yourself still puzzling over that one.. made me realize some of the things we think are just wrong and we should stop and look at some the things we feel and realize that they may not make our life any better.. jewelry is one of the finest things in life so I say dress yourself out
like a Christmas tree and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy We are heading to the mid-West for a wedding so I'll be away from Junking in Georgia till next week... I should have some good news to share then if all goes as planned.. till then take care enjoy the fall ... winter is coming we had the first freeze warning here in the deep South this morning cheers!

Winter is coming... in more than just the weather sense. The economy is chilling everyone's future. The outlook is mostly gloom and doom. The best bit of advice I have run across to handle the stress and the worry is to take it all in small amounts. Stay in the current moment as much as you can, of course you do have to prepare for the future, but worry today about next summer's vacation or future plans and it only makes you feel worse. The debate last night was more of the same... I don't think it changed much. I was horrified at McCain's reaction to the question of the health of the mother as it relates to abortion. He is a true misogynist. The time remaining between now and Nov. 4 will be filled with attacks and anger so my efforts to limit my exposure to it all will continue. I will follow what is going on but not blow by blow. The task of the next President will be daunting. I am off to my October Fest ... enjoy your weekend. Mother Nature is putting on her fall show and it is free.

Sunlight streams through my modest window to awaken me
Then there are errands to run or thrift store inventory to check on so off in my Prius I go. I have a weekly route and certain times of the day to hit the thrifts. One has a truck that goes out to collect furniture in the morning. It returns between 2 and 3 P.M. Some wonderful things can come off of that truck; they aren't there for long so if you hit it just right you may come away with a super find. As I write this, I am looking at small walnut cabinet from about 1850 that came off of that truck one day.
Dinner has to be considered and shopped for mostly I do the European thing go to the market see what looks good buy it and bring it home and fix it. Late in the afternoon I sit back down with my laptop check the headlines and read my favorite blogs new posts. Evenings I watch a little TV the Antiques Roadshow, House and the History Channel.. since 5:00 A.M. comes early and I am old I go to bed rather early.. then it's back up and at it again..I do spend a good bit of each day reading something I have loved all my life. A day in life of a empty nester in the suburbs of Atlanta not to thrilling, but it is my life; I am very fortunate. I try to remember that each day and be thankful for it.
